Current transformers convert high primary currents into measurable secondary currents, in the standard 1 or 5 amps. Various accuracy classes and VA-ratings are possible.
The current transformers of the SW“R“ – series have the smallest possible designs with large busbar dimensions. Some of the SW“R“ – series CT‘s are available ex stock.

Our numerous products include current transformers of accuracy classes 1 and 0,5. However, if you require current transformers of higher accuracy classes, this is possible without any problems, on request. We have specialised in developing special solutions to satisfy individual customer wishes. Thus, not only are current transformers of higher accuracy classes but also certified transformers or models for DIN rail mounting are available on request.
The rated power available at the secondary terminals is stated in VA. The choice of rated power as well as the measuring range itself are determined by the consumption of the particular meter that is connected to the current transformer, including the measuring wires. The consumption of the measuring wires is dependent on its length. Hence cparticularly high consumption arise in the case of a long measuring wire and secondary currents of 5 A. If the length of the measuring wires cannot be altered, current transformers with a 1A secondary current are recommended to minimise the consumption that arises.

Which model of the respective category is best suited for use in your company is dependent on numerous factors. In general it should be borne in mind that with plug-in current transformers with a lower transformation ratio, the output power in VA falls as well. Through repeated passage of the primary conductor, a smaller ratio can be achieved for unaltered output power (VA).
When using the current transformer always be aware that hazardous voltages may be present on exposed secondary terminals and therefore “exposed working” should be avoided without fail.
